To provide free primary and specialized medical, dental and vision care to uninsured, financially struggling families in Highlands County as an expression of God’s love through Jesus Christ.
“STCC has changed my life in more than one way. I now have the freedom of knowing that I don't have to go without medical care due to lack of finances. Everyone at STCC has touched my life, has been helpful in every way possible, and has shown the love of Jesus at every appointment. The reception area and clinic as a whole are always clean and comfortable. I like knowing that I am being prayed for and that there is a support system here if I need it. STCC may be a 'free clinic' to others, but to me, it's a safe place, a haven. I know I won't be put down because I don't have money or because I'm still overweight. STCC has changed my life in so many ways, but mostly it has helped soften my heart. I look forward to coming to visits. Thank you to everyone who serves the Lord at STCC! You are wonderful and I am blessed when I see your smiles!”
“Samaritan's Touch has brought me closer to God and has made me a better man, a better me. I thank God for Samaritan's Touch, these people have saved my life.”
“Because of the economic nature of society, we sought out Samaritan's Touch Care Center from word of mouth. I can't tell you how important Samaritan's Touch is to us and others. The friendly, courteous care that is given to their patients is outstanding. Without them seeing my wife, we could not afford the tests, medication and doctoring, she probably would have ended up in the emergency room at a hospital. We cannot afford health insurance. Thanks to the staff and donors of Samaritan's Touch, you have loved and treated my wife back to good health. Many, many thanks.”
“What has STCC done for me? They gave me hope, strength and brought me to a higher place in faith. They made me feel I deserved the best medical care and never judged or made me feel indifferent. The people here are so compassionate. God bless the people that support this life saving mission.”
“STCC has done a lot for me. Without them I would be blind and not be able to eat. When I came to Samaritan's Touch, my mouth was badly infected and my vision was poor. The doctor was able to put me on antibiotics and send me to a dentist for dentures. He also sent me to have cataract surgery so now I am able to see well. I love Samaritan's Touch Care Center and what they do for one and the community. I do not know what I would do without them.”
“I am so overwhelmed with awe and God's grace. I went to my appointment and saw Dr. Pena who agreed I needed a biopsy and ordered one. However, he advised I seek all avenues in order to proceed as the waiting list for surgical procedures was rather long. I was treated with such dignity and I felt God's presence in that place through all the staff present. It was such a beautiful, beautiful experience. The next day, I received a call from Samaritan's Touch informing me that I had a biopsy scheduled at Florida Hospital in Sebring on Monday, May 13th. Again, I am simply overwhelmed at the beauty of God's workings through His people and prayers. I do not have the words to articulate how grateful I am and to see firsthand this miracle, what a privilege I certainly do not deserve!"
“Dear Pastor Paul, I just walked into Samaritan's Touch today with my husband feeling lost—I came out of there feeling found. The Lord led me to you. To you in particular, because you were the person I was looking for at that time and moment. I was in praise because of you all day, nothing is a coincidence. And I know the Lord in his time will lead me to who, where and what I need to do. You are a living angel. I believe there are angels on earth in peoples clothing—you touched my heart and life. I thank you for the journal. I want it to be authentic. I trust in the Lord above everyone and am blessed to know you.”
“A patient came to our center looking for medical assistance with some major health issues he was having. Each time he arrived, he was angry and resentful. When asked if he would like to join the group for prayer or if he would like to speak to a chaplain, he would refuse and say 'I don't need prayer, I don't need God.' Dr. Dawkins, the attending physician, treated this patient and ordered medical tests to find the cause of his health issues. Once the test results came in, Dr. Dawkins was tasked with delivering the news that the patient had advanced liver cancer and that it had spread beyond the liver. His only treatment option was palliative care. Upon telling the patient this devastating news, Dr. Dawkins told the patient that he would like to pray with him, the patient agreed. Dr. Dawkins held his hands and both bowed their heads in prayer. This patient passed away on Thanksgiving Day in 2011, only three weeks after opening his heart to God.”
“In July of 2013, a young man came to STCC and reported that two years prior he was diagnosed with Chronic Crohn's Disease; it wasn't long after his diagnosis that he developed a deep ulcer in his small intestine. He underwent a surgical procedure to have a temporary opening formed in his belly, which would allow his digestive contents to leave his body through a stoma. The Doctor ordered that he have the stoma reversed within a few months. Due to many uncontrollable side effects of the surgical procedure as well as the effects of Crohn's, this young man could no longer work in the field of construction and he found himself unemployed with no health insurance. It was upon his arrival to STCC, he received a full medical work up and Dr. Pena realized that this man's survival depended on an urgent stoma reversal. On August 14, 2014, only eight weeks after becoming a patient at STCC, this patient received his life changing stoma reversal surgery. Presently, this patient has returned to work in the construction field and is now able to support himself once again, not only that but he is now engaged to be married.”
“I am so grateful for the care I've received from Samaritan's Touch. I started coming here in 2013 and Dr. Pena truly helped me keep my sanity through having shingles and being in an abusive relationship. I've truly been clean and sober for almost three years now and have recently been baptized. Thank you to all the staff at Samaritan's Touch, past and present.”
“I am truly so thankful for all the help you have given to me so that I can take care of my dental needs. It is such a blessing to not live with daily pain. Your service to our community touches my heart. May God bless you for all your efforts!”
